Poems are places where life is displayed:
Compacted insights that poets have made.
They trade in rhythm and metaphor's guile,
In irony's wit and simile's style.
Releasing instinctive feelings we cloak,
Their words are those our emotions evoke,
And lines we remember time after time
Are ones invested with memorable rhyme.

WORDS APART
It's known that opposites tend to attract;
Perhaps that's why she talks without pause,
While he such verbiage clearly abhors,
Releasing odd words like drips from a tap!

WILL POWER
We all are similarly blessed and plagued
With joys and burdens of heredity;
At times, we wish our lot could be replayed,
Replacing woeful genes of yesterday.
Alas, such facile fancy's not empowered;
Yet there's one remedy we might instil:
To banish habits making us unproud,
By exercising powers of human will.

UNENDING
Unlikely is the rat that sings,
Unwanted wing the midge's flights;
Unnerving is the frog that springs,
Unbidden, too, the dog that bites;
Unpleasant is the wasp that stings,
Unhappy he who works on nights.
Unwanted wing the midge's flights;
Unnerving is the frog that springs,
Unbidden, too, the dog that bites;
Unpleasant is the wasp that stings,
Unhappy he who works on nights.
TOOLBOX PARTNERS
The weighty contents suit his needs,
From drill to screw, for manly deeds.
A chocolate box holds pin and glue,
To show that she can fix things, too.

TEARS
A tear that falls from joy or grief,
Or bitter-cold wind in the eyes,
To dewdrop pearls beyond belief
Will lend its shape in sweet disguise.
Or bitter-cold wind in the eyes,
To dewdrop pearls beyond belief
Will lend its shape in sweet disguise.
